She's Californian born and bred - and 47-year-old Helen Hunt demonstrated you're never too old to partake of the state's most iconic sport - surfing.
Helen showed off she's still got the body to have any young Los Angeles wannabe crying into wheatgrass shot too as she changed into her wetsuit for a day on the waves.
The Hollywood star, who's a film director and screenwriter as well as an actress, has however said that she doesn't want her six-year-old daughter Makena Lei to follow in her footsteps.
According to New York Magazine, Hunt, whose early roles included The Mary Tyler Moore Show and The Bionic Woman, says that if her daughter did express an interest in acting, she won't encourage her.
When asked if Makena Lei, her daughter with her ex, Simpsons star Hank Azaria, would take after her mother, Oscar winner Helen said: 'Oh God, no! I can't look at it that way.'
She continued that her daughter would begin an acting career 'over her dead body', claiming that the movie set is a 'very adult place to be'.
However, she did concede that if it turned out she was serious about acting, she would look for her to appear in theatre productions instead.
But while she might not want to inherit her mother's taste in career, Makena will probably be hoping to inherit her beauty genes and incredible figure.
